A Long Term Care option - Very Cool!
Long Term Care Insurance policies (at least the ones I now about!) will pay for "informal caregivers". These are non-licensed people such as family members, friends, or maybe a nursing student who will come in and take care of you either part or full time.
One of my policies will pay 25% of your monthly benefit as a Cash Payment to use toward this or any way you like. This helps your care giver for sure! But it also helps to stretch out the time frame for your benefits.
So, if you have a typical 4 year policy, you may want to stretch out that first year into 4 years! Then after, you'd have 3 years at the full benefit if you need more intensive care
That means, you'd have 7 years of "mixed" care! You can work with the Case Manager to determine how that would work. You can go back & forth between Cash Benefit and Full Benefit as you situation evolves.
